Google is giving away some digital photo management software. As an aftermath of their acuqisition of Picasa last week, the search engine company has dropped the $29 price tag on the software and is now allowing people to download Picasa for free. While I haven't had the chance to try it out, free can't be a bad thing, right? Anybody used Picasa? What do you think of it?

21. The Media Detector is a system tray icon (bottom right - next to the system clock) that looks like the Picasa logo and this can be disabled. This is the program we use to immediately detect when a camera or device is plugged into the computer that contains media you want to display/edit in Picasa. You can close it by right clicking this icon and selecting Stop Picasa Media Detector. If you have disabled the Media Detector and reloading Picasa fails to enable it, go to Tools > Options > General and uncheck Automatically Detect Media and press OK. You can go back to Tools > Options > General and recheck Automatically Detect Media if you wish to enable it again.
