A post on Slashdot from a user who could not find imasges of Abu Ghraib in Google Images led to a confession from Sergey Brin that the Google Images index has not been updated at least since early summer, when those pictures began curculating. Brin admitted embarrassment, and indeed, it is a remarkable fact that Google cares so little for the timeliness of one of its main indexes.
