John Battelle points out that Google has patched in a quick fix of the update problem in Google Images. The core index suffers from lack of timely updating, a problem recently exposed, to Sergey Brin's embarrassment. Now, some image searches return pictures from Google News, ported over as a quick and convenient way to keep the image results current. Bettelle's example of keyword arafat works fine, but my attempt with kerry concession speech came up empty.
