Wondir is the Wikipedia of answer sites. Not exactly an answer engine, Wondir allows anybody to ask a question, and anybody to answer it. Multiple answers to single questions provide breadth and a certain degree of fact-checking. Still, the obvious drawback to user-edited reference sites is lack of authority. The obvious benefit is that they are free—and fun. The little-known Google Answers provides professional-level research services for a bid price, and browsing that board is an education in itself. At Wondir, you get flippancy such as "What's for lunch?" followed by three answers. You also get straightforward answers to simple questions such as "How much does a human brain weigh?" Posing that question in Google (hoping for a Google Q&A response) is futile; likewise in Answers.com. Why pay two dollars or more for a professional Google Answer when Wondir can get the job done free of charge? Wondir definitely fills a niche; just keep in mind that a contributor's credentials are not necessarily visible.

5. As one of Wondir's top posters I like to think more of Wondir as a community reaching out to others.
We take out of our time and busy schedules to answer questions, give advice and generally be there for others. Either in real-time via WIM or through email, a lot of us keep in contact with those we advise.
The HUGE difference between Wondir and any other site such as Google Answers is the personal touch that the majority of us put into our responses.
Google Expert #381 doesn't care how you are or what you're feeling. He's there for the $2.00 or whatever he gets for answering. Whereas a regular Wondir users, trackable by the number of Q's answered and the avg. rating, will take time to stay in that particular post and talk to you and attempt to help you through your problem. In fact, many of us give out our personal email addresses so that you can stay in touch in case there is another problem.
It's the personal touch that makes Wondir wondirful.

1. I appreciate your comments. I love Wikipedia and like Google Answers too. You're right that we're filling a different niche. One point: people's credentials *may* be available. Its optional. If you click on a person's WondirID it links to their profile - and the profile *can* list credentials. And answerers establish "helpfulness" ratings over time, which can help with credibility too. -- Matt Koll, Wondir founder
