Much negative sentiment and reporting is swirling around the new Google WebAccelerator. I found it to offer very slight improvement in surfing speed over a cable connection. Others notice greater gains in that department. The most disturbing development is that some people have experienced the display of private pages—not their own—when using WA. Because Google relies on extensive caching to accomplish the speed-up, it is perhaps not surprising that some people have found themselves appearing to be logged into another user's account in a discussion forum, for example. I have not seen anybody report that they are actually logged into somebody's account, but it doesn't need to go that deep to create damage. Viewing account settings and private messages is enough. Nathan Weinberg has posted an extensive blog entry about this, complete with screen shots from a Web discussion board.
