According to a press release, Keyhole, the satellite imaging company owned by
Google whose images are integrated in Google Maps, has completed a year-long
upgrade. Medium-or-higher resolution now spans the entire globe, which is a tremendous improvement. No longer are vast
areas blurred out from thousands of feet up. However, the upgrade is evidently not an update in all areas. When I check
my town, which began construction of a new library three years ago, the old library still stands. Oddly, though, the
integrated satellite imagery in Google Maps is somewhat updated, showing the start of construction. Still,
that would be almost three years ago.
Keyhole is a gigantic undertaking, and I highly recommend the program and its paid subscription. That said, I wish the
imagery were more current.

1. I cannot exaggerate how cool this upgrade is. I spent hours exploring it. Blogged about it at length today.
