Google Print Engine

Though it is not in Labs, a beta release of a dedicated Google Print engine is now up and live. Fair-use copyright restrictions limit excerpts to three pages per incident of a matched keyword, but you can read a surprising amount of literature by using the "Search within this book" feature to target subject and read around them. Google is displaying AdWords ads on the result pages. No advanced search exists as yet, asnd no way of limiting searches to public domain works. Every book in the index displays the covers, table of contents, and index—plus links to buy the book at various online outlets. This is now getting interesting. Google Print has existed in everyone's consciousness as a sort of abstract, looming presence; now it has attained solid reality.
