This has to fall in the rumor department, as I haven't seen Google confirm it, but it's getting wide play in blogs—and even Forbes is giving it caustic coverage. A CNET reporter Googled semi-personal information aboutr Eric Schmidt, published the results, and Google reportedly placed a one-year ban on talking to CNET. If true, the absurd irony of it needs no commentary. Even more troubling would be the profound misunderstanding of the modern media, in which all news sources are one click away.
