A couple of readers have written in to report a new feature on the search results page: Google suggests different wording of the key phrase and previews what the results would look like for that search. I have not duplicated this phenomenon, but ClickZ is publishing screen shots provided by Google, which is admittedly experimenting with the feature. Occurrences are intermittent, and are smarter than mere corrections of misspellings (though the alternate search results do sometimes cover misspellings). The suggested search results appear halfway down the results page, set off a bit from the results originally requested. It's a good idea, and seems tied in with Google Suggest, which promotes high-result search strings before you hit the Search button. [thanks to Dylan and Chris]

1. Yes, I've seen this! I was looking for info on Microsoft's WMHDV video format, but typed in WMHD. Halfway through the page was a "Did you mean...?" section, seperated from the rest, with three results for WMHDV! It was wonderful! I hope to see this more often.
