According to the latest monthly metrics from ComScore Networks, Google's market share rose 1.2 percent in August, and serviced 37.3 percent of searches. It might seem trivial to track these slight cluctuations in market share, but 1.2 percent of billions of search queries represents a lot of ad impressions and clickthroughs.

(Page 1)2. They keep gaining share, and will soon make so much money, that it will be impossible for Microsoft to catch up. Especially if they succeed in distributing alternatives to MS Office with Sun.
