Google and Comcast: The Odd Couple

Rick Aristotle Munarriz (who should win some sort of cool-name award) has posted an entertaining dramatization of the Google-Comcast-Microsoft scramble to get a piece of AOL. He also reports a number that makes it clear why Google is making a strong play for AOL: 12 percent of Google's revenue last year came from syndicating its ads through the AOL system. To a large extent, this is about which company, Google or Microsoft, is going to provide AOL's contextual ad inventory. Munarriz has more trouble figuring out how Comcast fits in.
