Google's Advanced Search page now includes a Usage Rights operator that filters results according to two Creative Commons license types: "Allow some form of re-use" and "Can be freely modified, adapted, or built upon." I found out about this via BoingBoing, so I tried the new operator on the key phrase cory doctorow, and indeed, the CC-filtered results make a big difference, bringing up results in BB and on Cory's other pages, and excluding unfiltered results such as articles mentioning him in mainstream media.

(Page 1)3. Staying out of trouble
Follow these steps to minimize the effects of a disk failure and protect your Digital
Camera:
• Always back up all your files, including pictures, images, data, files, and other customizable files.
• Don't ignore warning signs. If you have unexplained system or software crashes on a Digital camera, check first for
battery, and then have your camera checked out at an authorized dealer. Likewise on the Digital Camera, if your system
seems slower or you get frequent "abort, retry, fail" messages, first check memory and then have your system checked out.

5. I am not clear how this will affect the web search.

1. Does anyone have any idea how Google can tell what license a webpage is under?
Like, do you need to put in a meta tag, or does it search for the CC image that most people put down? Or something?
