Googlewhacking is fun and all, but I'd never heard of anyone taking it off-the-chart seriously until I heard about Dave Gorman. Gorman has indulged his Googlewhacking obsession for a few years, starting with compulsive attempts to create a one-match Google result from two legitimate keywords. That's a Googlewhack. The obsession shifted into high gear when Gorman travelled around the world three times (90,000 miles) to visit owners of Googlewhacked sites. Then came the theater show based on Googlewhacking. Then the book. I don't know what Gorman wants to be when he grows up, but he's doing pretty well just playing a game. In addition to all of the above, Gorman writes a weekly column for Guardian Unlimited.

1. Dave's been doing UK comedy for many, many years with lots of spots at the Edinburgh Festival. I caught his GoogleWhacking show live about 2 years ago and it's very, very funny. He does lots of things like this - one of the first was Are you Dave Gorman? where he travelled 1000's of miles meeting other people called Dave Gorman. Nuts, but top comedy :)
