Hm, interesting range of experience. I guess Google is (and has been) experimenting with the "feature" on a rotating or random basis.

The next question is: Do users want it there? Is the added security worth the added hassle?

Google is harming those of us whom happen to be blind and visually impaired through their implementation of word verification without an accessible alternative, such as audio playback of the characters to be entered. This is effectively serving as a "no blind people allowed" sign, blocking us from accessing the services and thus from participation on the Internet. As visual verification increases without due consideration of accessibility, we are being thrown off the wagon. Anyone have any ideas?

8. I have gotten this when using non-compliant browsers and after bad passwords. I don't mind the feature, it seems like a helpful added layer of security if it comes in response to an error. If I needed to type in the challenge phrase EVERY time I think I'd get annoyed.
