Google is testing on Dell machines
There are no words as to exactly which Google software they have installed on Dell machines, but judging from the push lately you can almost be certain that it is the Google Pack. The Google pack includes Google Earth, Google Desktop, Picasa, Google Talk, Mozilla Firefox, Norton Antivirus, and Adobe Reader 7.
Having Google as a base setup on over 100 million new Dell’s will bring Google into the forefront of desktop search applications, and sure to cause a bout with Microsoft.

(Page 1)2. My boss turned over his recently purchased Dell laptop for our IT office to setup for him and it contained Google Desktop pre installed. I do not believe it had any other software from the "pack".
So they mean local to your machine.

1. "..that let Dell users search their computers for local information."
Is this referring to information local to the machine, or geographically local to them (i.e. Google Desktop or Google Local) I wonder
