Flickr is a great easy online tool to share photos with friends, family, and even the public. So it only makes sense that Google makes it easier to use and build web albums with.
Google's Picasa makes it easy to store photos, organize photos, email photos, share and add photos to the Blogger application. Now there is word that Google is adding a Picasa Web Albums feature to the system, making it easy to make an online photo album to.
Philipp Lenssen reports that a line on the Picasa homepage appeared for a while stating a "NEW! Picasa Web Albums" feature. Cant wait to try this new Google feature out and see if Picasa Web Albums is a Flickr eater.

1. It's just been announced on the Google blog and sounds like a great feature. I'm tired of exporting my pictures from Picasa and then uploading them to another host like Flickr.
However. Flickr is popular because it has users. Just like Youtube. Sure, Web Albums may indeed be better (i don't know because you have to be invited - possibly a gimmick to increase popularity) but the key to its success will be in it's user base.
If it can make headlines quickly and people start putting their photos online, then it could be a big hit. However, the fact that it allows other people to download your pictures may put off some users from displaying more 'Arty' pictures for fear of copyright infringment. And if it only attracts users to put pictures from drunk nights out - honesty...who's going to spend time looking through them?
Oh, that and they need to get their tags on Picasa sorted out if they want to truly compete head on with Flickr. If it stops deleting your tags by accident and if you can upload your photos complete without having to re-tag them...then it could be an all out winner.
