Google and Ebay are pushing people to enjoy free WiFi through their jointly funded company FON.
The two companies are set to offer Linksys routers which are normally listed in upwards of $70, for $5 in an effort to promote customers to share their web connection with neighbors and passerby's.
FON is a company that pushes people to share their internet connection, to offer everyone in the world free WiFi service. FON is set to become the largest WiFi community in the world.

(Page 1)2. The problem with sharing your wifi is that legally you are bound to secure your wifi so it isn't used for malicious reasons. (at least from what i've read)
If that's the case you shouldn't be allowing just anyone use your wifi as it could lead to legal troubles of your own.
