Because it is. It sounds to me that this blog has gone the way of most of the other weblogs inc blogs and has been killed off. Go look around you'll see what i mean, weblogs has shut down a ton of their blogs in the last couple of weeks. Sure the blogs are still there for "archive purposes" but they will no longer be updated.

I have seen a lot of sites going the other way round - spawning separate blogs from the categories covered.

As far as my knowledge goes, its a better SEO technique with separate blogs ... but I am sure weblogs knows better.
